Outage Update – Thursday, May 9, 2024 5:00 PM
We are down to 161 separate outages, with a total of 6,513 members out of power. The work being done to cut and remove trees from roads and power lines is labor intensive. Many of these lines are in remote cross country areas. Flooded roads and other extensive damage has made it challenging to reach some of the areas affected.
At this time, we have 3 Pike crews and 2 crews from Coweta-Fayette EMC assisting our Amicalola EMC linemen, with more on the way from Pike, MasTec and Snapping Shoals. This help is greatly appreciated!
We will continue to update our members as we can. We apologize for the inconvenience, but at this time we are unable to give an estimate of when all power will be restored. Thank you for your patience and support.

Outage Update – Thursday, May 9, 2024 11:00 AM
As storms have continued to move through our service area this morning, we have received some images from Roy Road in Ellijay. In storms of this nature, with hundreds of trees and tree limbs blown down, restoration will first involve clearing trees from roadways so crews can get in to see the damages. Once trees are cleared off the power lines, lines can be put back up and broken poles can be replaced. We have the following details regarding the broken poles that have been reported thus far:
- Roy Road/52 Area – at least 3 broken three phase poles, with reports of more, and multiple spans of wire down with multiple large trees on the line.
- Chatsworth Highway has multiple large trees on the line with at least 1 broken three phase pole.
- 1 single phase pole is broken with just a few meters still out around the Turner’s Corner area.
Currently we have 8,977 members affected, of those 6,605 are in Gilmer County. Thank you for your patience as our crews work to safely restore power. You can view outages here.

Outage Update – Thursday, May 9, 2024 6:55 AM
Due to overnight thunderstorms, high winds and heavy rains we are experiencing widespread power outages across our service area. Currently over 8,000 members are affected, the worst area being Gilmer County, especially around the HWY 52, Big Creek and Roy Road area. We have reports of at least 5 broken poles, and expect that number to rise. All reports say large trees are down in multiple areas, with many trees being on power lines. This will delay restoration efforts. Please stay away from downed power lines – do not go near them and always assume they are still energized. This warning also includes NO DRIVING ACROSS DOWNED POWER LINES. Report them to us using our outage management system via the following numbers: 706-253-0359 OR 706-276-0359 OR 706-864-0359.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to restore all power as soon as is safely possible. Please pray for the safety of our line workers as well as the safety of all our affected members and their families.
