Outage update, 8:00 a.m.
We are now down to just over 1000 members still out of power, spread over 83 locations within 5 counties of our service area. Our broken pole count has now risen to 62 and roughly a third of those are planned to be replaced today/this evening. We have high expectations that all locations that are able to receive power should be restored by the end of the day/evening, in the event that nothing unforeseen happens. If a location has damage to the meter base, weatherhead, etc. it may be necessary to have an electrician make those repairs before service can be connected. We have obtained two additional line crews, so that puts the number of crew members working on our system to around 200 (this includes our Amicalola EMC employees).Again, we thank you for your patience and we are doing everything within our power to restore all power as soon as is safely possible. -

Outage Update – Thursday, August 1, 2024
10:00 pm We are now down to 1282 members out at 89 separate locations. We’ve made excellent progress today restoring power to over 4400 meters. Some crews will continue to work throughout the night. Thank you for your patience.8:00 PM we are down to 1,774 outages at 99 separate locations.5:00 PM The outage count is now at 2729 members, at 134 separate locations. Our broken pole count is now at 51. As mentioned earlier, we are having to cut our way through many of these areas before we can get in to assess damages and repair or rebuild power lines. Our crews continue to work, but due to the large number of smaller separate outages still without power, we know that all of them will not be restored tonight. Our crews will continue to work as long as it is safe to do so. Some will continue working throughout the night. We thank you for your patience and ask that you pray for our linemen who are working during very challenging circumstances and pray for our members who are having to make do without electricity. Thank you for your patience. -
2:00 PM outage update
2:00 p.m. UpdateWe are currently down to 3,466 members out of power at 173 separate locations, across six of the counties within our ten county service area. Gilmer County now has 3188 members out of power, and the other 5 counties have outages that number below 150. It is important to note that Gilmer County also has more Amicalola EMC members than any other county we serve. We are having some issues with our Automated Outage Management System. This is causing some locations to appear restored that are not and vice versa, some locations to appear out of power that actually have power. In addition, we are aware that some members are having difficulty as they try to report a power outage. We are aware of those issues and are working to resolve them. Thank you for your patience as we continue to battle these outages in extreme heat. We have obtained an additional EMC line crew from Tallapoosa River Electric in Alabama. We will continue to update you as information becomes available, but remember you can view the outages and crew assignments in real-time on our website at www.amicalolaemc.com and also on our mobile app which is available from the App store or on Google Play. -
latest outage update
10: 30 a.m. Update
Currently, we are down to 3959 members out at 204 separate locations. We have 3506 in Gilmer, 295 in Pickens, and the rest across Cherokee, Dawson, Gordon, Lumpkin, and Murray counties.
Our broken pole count is up to 40; many of these poles have already been replaced.
As previously mentioned, we have several crews who have come in to help us. These crews are from sister EMCs in Georgia and Alabama, as well as contractor crews from PIKE, Tree Line Services and RealTree.
Thank you for your patience. We hope to make good progress today and are thankful for a clear day, although the heat is going to be a scorcher.
As we get the larger outages restored, restoration could slow some because the smaller outages sometimes require the same amount of effort, but result in only 2-3 meters restored. Rest assured that all power will be restored as soon as is safely allowed.
