Severe storms this morning have caused widespread outages across our service area. Currently we have 149 total outages affecting 8,272 members. Crews have been assigned to many areas, but with outages this widespread complete restoration will take some time. We will continue to update as we know more. For now, we know of 3 broken 3 phase poles and one broken single phase pole on Hwy 5 just north of Riverstone Subdivision in Pickens County. We also know of several broken poles along Hwy 136 and Hwy 183 in Dawson County. The photo of storm damage (see below) on Roberts Ridge Rd in Ellijay was sent in by AEMC’s CFO.
Please use caution if you must travel this morning. Remember to stay away from downed power lines and always assume they are energized.
