Storm Update – Wednesday, July 31, 2024

7:00 AM

The storm that blew through yesterday evening left us with just over 23,000 consumers without power and 13 circuits affected. Once the storm passed, Amicalola EMC crews were sent out for repairs and damage assessment. Many areas that need attention have been challenging to get to due to downed trees and storm damage. Although this has slowed the restoration process, crews have still been able to restore roughly 10,000 meters in about 12 hours. We currently have 13,938 members out of power, with the highest number of those being in Gilmer and Pickens. We are expecting aid from outside crews this morning and will update when we know more about who those crews are. The areas with confirmed broken poles are listed below:

Gilmer:

  • Old Miller Rock
  • Davenport Ln (multiple broken poles confirmed)
  • Craigtown Road
  • Progress Road

Pickens:

  • Henderson Mtn Road

Cherokee:

  • Rutledge Ln
  • Red Cloud Dr

Lumpkin:

  • Rice Ridge
