Amicalola EMC Sends Mutual Aid to Altamaha EMC

This morning Ray Spriggs, Britt Taylor, Logan Zimmerman, Donnie Crittenden and Anthony Lowman left out for Lyons, GA to assist Altamaha EMC in Hurricane Helene restoration efforts.

As you know, Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane with a path 500 miles wide. The high winds caused catastrophic damage to the high-voltage transmission lines and electrical substations that provide electricity to local EMCs in Georgia.

Like many of you, we’re seeing more media coverage along with photos and videos via social media of the devastating impacts so many are facing. The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association reports Hurricane Helene knocked out power to an estimated 1.25 million electric cooperative members and is proving to be one of the most consequential storms in the 87-year history of electric cooperatives.

We continue to keep all those affected in our thoughts and prayers, and we want to thank these five for representing Amicalola EMC as they offer mutual aid to another co-op in need!
