SPARK Energy Education Program
Igniting Solar Learning for Middle and High School Students
Launched in 2005 by Georgia’s EMCs in collaboration with Green Power EMC, the SPARK Energy Education Program offers a dynamic, multi-disciplinary approach to understanding energy—from its production and conversion to its efficient use. Today, SPARK is dedicated to solar energy, making it the largest solar education initiative in Georgia.
The SPARK Program equips participating schools with real-time data from solar installations across the state and provides a comprehensive curriculum focused on solar energy. Students dive into the workings of renewable energy systems, using analytical and research tools to explore and interpret data from these solar sites.
Our standards-based curriculum features engaging modules for both middle and high school students, seamlessly integrating with existing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs. This hands-on experience has benefitted over 200 schools, trained around 650 teachers, and impacted more than 10,000 students statewide.
