Amicalola EMC Water Heater Maintenance Program
Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation offers a maintenance program that provides replacement electric water heaters in 30, 40, and 50-gallon standard and low-boy models. Please note that single-wide mobile homes and under-cabinet water heaters are not eligible for this program. However, if you own an under-cabinet water heater and agree to replace it with a low-boy model, you can participate (the cabinet top will be your responsibility).
Program Details
- Eligibility: The water heater must be in working condition to qualify for the maintenance program.
- Waiting Period: All homes have a 30-day waiting period before repairs can be made.
- Monthly Fee: If your water heater is working, it can be added to the maintenance program for $1.49 per month.
If your water heater is non-working, you have three options:

Installation Guidelines
Improper installation can damage your water heater's elements and thermostats. Ensure that the following procedures are followed:
- Filling the Heater: Turn on electricity only after the water heater is completely filled. Open a hot water faucet in the house to let air escape while it fills.
- Avoid Plumbing Leaks: Ensure there are no plumbing leaks around the water heater, as they can damage thermostat controls.
If Amicalola EMC is called to replace an element or thermostat due to improper installation, a minimum service charge of $50.00 will apply.
Coverage Limitations
The water heater maintenance program covers maintenance only. The following issues are not included:
- Plumbing leaks
- Electrical and circuit breaker problems
- Water source pressures exceeding relief valve limits
- Incorrect installation
All warranties for the water heater are provided by the manufacturer. Amicalola EMC disclaims all expressed or implied warranties and will not assume any liability related to the product distribution. Any damage caused by the product falls under the manufacturer's liability.
