Amicalola EMC sends mutual aid to Okefenoke REMC

While the state of Georgia braces for Winter Storm Enzo, we say goodbye to two of our crews and wish them safety as they head to Okefenoke REMC to offer mutual aid assistance. Okefenoke serves counties in southeast Georgia and northeast Florida, where they are currently under a Winter Storm Warning until 1 PM Wednesday. Power restoration continues

8:30 PM update: power has been restored to almost all of our territory. We still have 2 outages affecting 4 members. We are so grateful to the linemen who have worked hours in the cold conditions so that our consumer-members would have power once again. Please be safe this evening and in the morning. Amicalola EMC crews make great progress in storm restoration efforts

12:00 PM update: 752 members affected at 26 separate locations. Amicalola EMC crews and contract crews are still working to remedy the broken poles and issues found early this morning. We have encountered additional broken poles on Rock House Rd in Dahlonega and on Cherokee Forest Park Dr off of Reavis Mtn Rd in Pickens. Lines have been found on the ground off of Rutledge Ln in Cherokee (Clayton Community). We suspect there may be a broken pole in this area as well. Let this be a reminder...



Winter storm outage update

Currently, there are 1,061 members without power across our service territory. We still have two broken poles in Bent Tree off of Fairway Drive that we are aware of. After speaking with Bent Tree Safety, we will be awaiting their go ahead after they have a chance to salt the roads this morning. We have 3 broken poles on Highway 282 just past our Pleasant Gap Substation. Crews are headed there now with the materials needed to replace these poles. We are aware of the outage on Dickerson...



Evening power outages caused by winter storm

After a relatively calm day of watching the snow fall, the ice arrived shortly thereafter. Accumulations vary across our service territory and the wind has recently picked up. As trees and tree limbs fall or ice brings down power lines, widespread power outage may occur. Right now, we have approximately 1,690 members without power. Amicalola EMC crews stand ready for winter weather

The Winter Storm Warning effecting our area means a mix of multiple winter precipitation types are expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to 3 inches and ice accumulation up to one third of an inch are possible in our area. This warning is in effect until 7 AM Saturday.
