Aaron Dickson of Creekview High won first place in the Area Wiring Contest recently held at Amicalola EMC in Jasper. He will receive a $500 scholarship. Karson Wham of Central (Carroll) High placed second and will receive a $300 scholarship.
Offered through the local FFA chapter with significant support from Amicalola EMC, the annual EMC/FFA Career Development Event helps students develop skills in electrical wiring, critical thinking, and effective communication. Most notably, the competition gives students an experience not readily available in most classroom settings.
Dickson and Wham will join first and second place winners from five other area competitions throughout Georgia to compete at the state finals. There they will have a chance to win additional scholarships and awards.
