Amicalola EMC is proud to announce the presentation of the 2025 Foundation for Agriculture "Book of the Year" to the Pickens County Public Library. This year, the book selected is The Soil In Jackie's Garden, a captivating children’s book that introduces young readers to the critical importance of soil in agriculture and the environment.

The donation is part of the ongoing collaboration between the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture (GFA) and local county Farm Bureau offices to provide Georgia’s state-funded public libraries with educational books about agriculture. Since 2018, this initiative has been made possible through the support of Georgia EMC, and this year, Amicalola EMC is proud to join Pickens County Farm Bureau in presenting the book of the year during Georgia Ag Week.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this wonderful initiative that helps educate and inspire the next generation of leaders in agriculture,” said Kadie Shaw, a representative from Amicalola EMC. “Books like The Soil In Jackie's Garden are not only fun and engaging for children, but they also help foster a deeper understanding of how vital agriculture is to our daily lives. We are committed to supporting local communities and ensuring that children have access to the tools they need to learn and grow.”

The Soil In Jackie's Garden is a perfect choice for young readers as it introduces them to the concept of soil health and its role in growing food. The book is beautifully illustrated and designed to spark curiosity about agriculture, making it an ideal resource for libraries throughout Georgia.
