Evening power outages caused by winter storm

Posted on

After a relatively calm day of watching the snow fall, the ice arrived shortly thereafter. Accumulations vary across our service territory and the wind has recently picked up. As trees and tree limbs fall or ice brings down power lines, widespread power outage may occur. Right now, we have approximately 1,690 members without power. We have reports of a tree down on Reinhardt College Parkway and at least 2 broken poles in the Bent Tree community. Due to road conditions, replacing these poles will take some time. Our crews, as well as crews from sister EMCs, are working to restore power as quickly as safely possible. Outages can be viewed in real time on our outage map.

Reminder: please do not report outages to social media. If you experience an outage, please call 706-253-0359 OR 706-276-0359 OR 706-864-0359. If you see a downed power line always assume it is energized and do not go near it.

Thank you for your patience as our linemen work to restore your power in the cold, icy conditions.
