Prepare for Winter Weather

Posted on

Today's Wind Advisory will remain in effect until tomorrow morning. Wind gusts up to 35+ mph can cause trees and tree limbs to fall on power lines. We urge all of our members to stay safe while on the roads, and if you encounter a downed power line please do not go near it. Always assume it is energized.

To report an outage call 706-253-0359 OR 706-276-0359 OR 706-864-0359

Make sure you are prepared for winter weather by following the tips below:

  • Set your thermostats to 68 degrees and wear warm clothes.
  • Caulk or add weather strips around windows and doors.
  • Change the filter in your heating system.
  • Open blinds and curtains to let sunlight in.
  • Try to refrain from using your larger appliances during peak times.
  • Have water and non-perishable foods on hand.
  • Be sure to have extra blankets handy.
  • Have flashlights, battery powered lanterns and extra batteries easily accessible.
  • For those using a generator, please follow all safety guidelines to protect yourself, your home and utility employees from serious or fatal injuries.
