Outage update - June 8 | 11:00 AM
We are down to roughly 3,900 outages and appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to get the lights back on for all of our members. We know being without power is an inconvenience, and promise we are doing everything we can to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.
We are proud to live and serve the rural areas of North Georgia, but we know that when severe weather hits, including damaging winds, broken poles and downed power lines are likely. Thank you for your prayers for our crews and we ask that you continue to remember them!
Outage update - June 8 | 2:00 PM
We are up to 17 broken poles across our service territory. Crews are addressing these now and working hard to get power restored. We’d like to say a big thank you to the crews that have come from other EMCs to assist us. We are down to roughly 3,100 meters out.
Thank you for your support, and if you need to report an outage or a downed power line remember to call in to the outage management system and leave a message. These messages are listened to by our dispatch team. Encouraging Facebook comments are appreciated, but they are not monitored for outage reporting.
Outage Update - June 8 | 8:00 PM
We’ve been all hands on deck after the severe storms that came through our area last night, causing close to 22,000 outages at the peak. We are down to roughly 2,200 meters without power. The process to restoring power is not always cut-and-dry so to speak. In some cases, our crews may visit a site to determine the problem, and need to come back to it because the root cause may be elsewhere. Storms aren’t always lengthy, but that doesn’t mean the damage won’t be severe. With winds 60+ mph, accompanied by heavy rain and lightning like we experienced, large trees are sure to snap. In many cases falling onto power lines, breaking lines and/or power poles.
We are so fortunate to have the following sister EMC’s helping us work to restore power:
- Altamaha EMC
- Canoochee EMC
- Ocmulgee EMC
- Okefenoke EMC
- North Georgia EMC
- Holston Electric
- Pike
- Powell Valley Electric
Thank you all!
We’ve included some photos with this post to show what the crews have been facing.
Thank you for your continued support. We know being without power for any amount of time is tough, but know we are working hard to get the lights back on.
