8:00 AM Winter Storm Update
We were fortunate through the night as ice accumulations held off for most of our service area. However, early this morning we saw outage numbers begin to rise. Around 5:30 AM we were at roughly 2,500 people out of power. All of our crews have been responding to outages since last night, and we have several more contract crews and sister EMCs on standby ready to help with outages today. Special thanks to MasTec, Clay Electric and Satilla EMC for sending assistance our way.
Currently we have around 1,781 outages at 30 separate locations. Thus far we know of two broken poles in the Bent Tree community, and one more in Gilmer County.
As ice accumulates and the wind continues to pick up, dangerous conditions will continue to worsen. Please remember that if you encounter a downed power line do not go near it. Always assume it is energized. Road conditions are worsening, so if you don't have to travel, please stay put!
To report a power outage please call one of the following numbers: 706-253-0359 OR 706-276-0359 OR 706-864-0359. You can also report an outage through the online member portal or on the Amicalola EMC app.
12:00 PM Winter Storm Update
We are experiencing more outages due to ice and wind. Currently we have roughly 2,700 people without power at 58 separate locations. Our broken pole count is up to 6 total, some of which are in the following locations:
Pickens County
- Antioch Church Rd has a broken single phase pole
*There are parts of Henderson Mountain that are currently out of power and we can't access them due to icy roads.
Gilmer County
- Single phase broken pole on Holt Rd
- Three phase broken pole on HWY 52 East at Piney Spur
Lumpkin and Dawson
- There have been no reports of broken poles yet, but we have seen a large uptick in outages in both of these counties.
We are all hands on deck as we continue restoration efforts. Thankful for our dispatch and support personnel, along with our line crews and ROW crews. Additionally, we have received help from MasTec, Satilla REMC, Clay Electric, North Georgia EMC, Peace River Electric, Pike and a Burford ROW crew.
5:30 PM Winter Storm Update
We currently have 2,164 members without power at 74 separate locations. Outages by county are:
Lumpkin - 1,300
Dawson - 620
Pickens - 109
Gilmer - 106
Cherokee - 3
There are lots of small roadways in Lumpkin and Dawson that we have been unable to get to. It's possible there are more broken poles in these locations.
We appreciate your patience and support as our crews have worked through the cold, wet conditions. We will be evaluating road conditions as night falls. If roads are passable there will be crews continue to work on restoring power.
Please be safe and avoid traveling if possible. To report a power outage please call one of the following numbers: 706-253-0359 OR 706-276-0359 OR 706-864-0359. You can also report an outage through the online member portal or on the Amicalola EMC app.
