Winter Storm Warning in effect for Amicalola EMC territory

Winter Storm Warning in effect for Amicalola EMC territory

Posted on

As of earlier today, our service territory has been upgraded from a Winter Storm WATCH to a Winter Storm WARNING.

The US National Weather Service has voiced concern with the potential for damaging freezing rain accumulation throughout the day Friday. We'd like to thank our members for their diligence in preparing for this storm, and we urge you to remain #WeatherAware in the coming days.

  • Keep your batteries charged while you can and keep alternative power sources like portable chargers and power banks close by.
  • Make sure you have a plan for receiving updates and information regarding the weather.
  • Keep freezers and refrigerators closed.
  • If using a generator, be sure it is outside at least 20 feet away from windows, doors and garages.
  • Have alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or using power-dependent medical devices.
  • Be sure to follow local officials about warming centers near you.

Amicalola EMC employees have spent much of today preparing for the days ahead. We will continue to monitor the weather while crews are standing by to answer the call in the event of power outages. Be safe and stay warm!
