Operation Round-Up®
In 1999, Amicalola EMC launched the Operation Round-Up program to benefit local communities. By rounding up their monthly power bills to the nearest dollar, members have contributed over $2.3 million to individuals and charities in the area. For just a few cents each month—small change that goes unnoticed—members are making a positive impact.

- What is Operation Round-Up?
-
Operation Round-Up provides financial assistance to individuals in need and qualified 501(c)(3) community charities.
-
- How does the program work?
-
Each month, we round up the electric bills of participating members to the next dollar. For example, a bill of $62.78 rounds up to $63.00, with the extra 22 cents going to the Operation Round-Up fund. Contributions are tax-deductible and participation is voluntary.
-
- Who administers the fund?
-
The funds are managed by the Amicalola EMC Trust, a nonprofit corporation with a volunteer board of directors independent from the cooperative. This board evaluates funding requests and decides on distributions. Plus, Amicalola EMC covers all administrative costs, ensuring 100% of your contributions go directly to the Operation Round-Up Trust Fund.
-
- What will the money be used for?
-
Funds remain within the Amicalola EMC service area and can be used for food, shelter, clothing, health needs, education, and specialty needs where funding is lacking. However, they cannot be used to pay electric bills, and political campaigns are excluded from funding.
-
- How can someone apply for help through Operation Round-Up?
