Amicalola EMC began awarding their 2023 Bright Ideas Teacher Grants today as they presented $7,373 to 14 winning teachers in Lumpkin County.  Teachers at Cottrell Elementary, Lumpkin Middle, Lumpkin High and Blackburn Elementary were surprised today with "big" checks. Amicalola EMC employees dressed in pink today and are wearing bracelets to help bring awareness to Breast Cancer. Held in October every year, Breast Cancer Awareness Month aims to promote screening and prevention of the disease, which affects one in eight women in the United States every year and 2.3 million women worldwide.

ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood. It is usually first diagnosed in childhood and often lasts into adulthood. Children with ADHD may have trouble paying attention, controlling impulsive behaviors (may act without thinking about what the result will be), or be overly active. October is ADHD Awareness Month and Amicalola EMC employees are showing their support by wearing orange awareness bracelets and orange clothing.
